Description Size: 1 x 3/4 inch Material: Sterling silver This unique Confirmation medal features Sts. Peter and Paul being blessed by the Holy Spirit in the form of a radiant dove. The inscription around the edge is in Latin and reads “Super Nos Spiritus De Excelsio” with means “The Spirit is Poured on Us from on High”. Isa 32 15 [Isaiah 32:15] is inscribed below the saints, noting the location of the Bible verse. The reverse shows Pope Pius IX who reigned from 1846 to 1878. The inscription reads “Pius IX Pontifex Max. Ano. VIII” (Pius IX Supreme Pontiff Year 8). The medal was probably struck during the eighth year of his papacy. The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece.
