Os livros-textos do Núcleo Regional Sul (NRS) da Sociedade Brasileira de Ciência do Solo (SBCS) foram concebidos a partir de uma das ações propostas pela diretoria do NRS durante o mandato de 2019-2020, iniciativa mantida pela diretoria com mandato em 2021-2022, 2023-2024 e 2025-2026. O grande motivador para a criação desses livros foi a possibilidade de gerar um material didático de qualidade que pudesse ser utilizado de forma universal em todas as disciplinas que envolvam a Ciência do Solo no âmbito do ensino nas Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES) dos estados do Rio Grande do Sul (RS) e de Santa Catarina (SC). Além de colaborar para divulgar, difundir e promover o NRS-SBCS nas IES, essas obras permitem apresentar tanto os conhecimentos básicos existentes em outras obras quanto um olhar atualizado e específico das demandas e experiências regionais do RS e de SC.
