Description**signed by G.E.T Eyston**A history of attempts on the land speed record, as written by G. E. T. Eyston, himself a three time record breaker.Captain George Edward Thomas Eyston OBE (1897-1979) was a British racing driver, remembered for breaking the land speed record thrice between 1937 and 1939 in his vehicle Thunderbolt; he also won the Segrave Trophy in 1935.Barré Lyndon (1896-1972) was best known for being a screenwriter and playwright; however, during his early career he was a journalist specialising in motor-racing. He penned six novels on the subject of motor racing, as well as films including ‘The Man in Half Moon Street’, ‘The Lodger’ and ‘Hangover Square’.First edition 1935. Some light foxing to early pages and on intermittent subsequent page edges. Orange boards with blue lettering in good condition for age, a little grubby in places with light bumping. Original dust cover is very clean and bright, small loss to top of spine and one corner, otherwise fully intact and now in protective clear cover.Extremely rare signed copy.
