DescriptionAn excellent clean-up crew and supplementary live food.Best known for their role in bioactive enclosures.Tiny size makes them suitable for small reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates.Help recycle waste and maintain healthy substrates.Soft-bodied and nutritious when consumed.Supplied as a producing culture for long-term use.Springtails (Collembola sp.), often sold as “Tropical White Springtails,” are tiny soil-dwelling invertebrates that serve a dual role in terrariums: they act as a clean-up crew and can also provide a valuable supplementary live food source. These micro-invertebrates are particularly beneficial in bioactive setups, where they consume mould, decaying plant matter, and organic waste, helping to keep enclosures clean and balanced.Due to their small size, springtails also make excellent live prey for tiny reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates such as dart frogs, baby geckos, small salamanders, and young mantids. Being soft-bodied and protein-rich, they are easily digested and highly nutritious.Uses:As live food: Ideal for small insectivores or hatchlings. As bioactive clean-up crew: Maintain soil health, reduce mould growth, and break down organic waste.Care Instructions:Keep cultures at room temperature (20–25°C). They thrive in damp, humid conditions — add a small amount of dechlorinated water if the culture begins to dry out. Feed occasionally with powdered fish food, yeast, or vegetable matter to maintain production. Cultures can be seeded into terrariums directly, where populations will sustain themselves if conditions are suitable.Nutritional Breakdown:Crude Protein20%Crude Fats & Oils5%Moisture70%Minerals2lcium:Phosphorous0.15:1
