St Hubert was a wealthy courtier who was devoted to hunting. Once when he was hunting on Good Friday morning, he saw the vision of a crucifix between the antlers of a stag and heard a voice saying “Hubert, unless you turn to the Lord, and lead a holy life, you shall quickly go down to hell.” The experience converted Hubert to live a more Godly life. He left court and began to study for the priesthood. After he was ordained, he became bishop of Masstricht, Belgium and was known for his excellent preaching and generosity to the poor. He died in 727 in the Netherlands. As a young French nobleman, St Roch gave away his fortune and religious pilgrim. He cared for the sick, especially victims of the plague. When he caught the plague himself, he went into the forest to die alone where he wouldn’t infect anyone else. A dog followed him and began to bring St Roch food from his master’s table. Thanks to the dog’s help, St Roch survived the plague. When he returned to Montpelier, France, he was arrested as a spy and spent 5 years in prison where legend says he was cared for by an angel until his death. This medal is made of sterling silver and will come with a matching holy card in an organza gift bag, so it’s ready to give as a present to someone else or yourself.
