The reverse features tool used by those who call upon her patronage. The legend of St Barbara states that she was a beautiful maiden who was imprisoned by her father in a high tower for disobedience. While there she received a fine education and converted to Christianity. Later, when her father was away, she had three windows cut into her tower to honor the trinity. When her father learned of her conversion and the changes she had made to the tower, he denounced her to a local tribunal who sentenced her to death. She escaped, but her father tracked her down and beheaded her. He was immediately struck by lightening and killed as a heavenly punishment for his actions. The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece.
