Use antistatic wires to prevent sparks caused by static electricity generated during the movement and flow of flammable liquids. When collecting waste, connect one antistatic wire to bond a safety container to a receiving vessel, such as a funnel, then use a second wire to ground the drum by attaching it to an appropriate earth ground. Standard wire lengths are 1 metre (3 feet) and 3 metres (10 feet). For extended reach, multiple wires with 6 mm (¼-inch) terminal ends can be connected together.
