Description Size: 3/4 inch Material: Sterling silver This medal shows St Cajetan (spelled the French way – Gaetan) holding the Christ Child with a lily to represent purity. Cajetan was born to a noble family in 1480. He studied to be a lawyer and was offered several government positions, but turned them down to follow his religious vocation. He was ordained at age 36. Cajetan loved serving the sick and poor and founded a hospital for them in Venice. He also founded a bank to serve poor people so they wouldn’t have to rely on shady moneylenders for loans. With three other priests, he began the order of the Congregation of Clerks Regular to encourage zeal in the clergy. After a very busy life, he died of natural causes in 1547. The medal was cast in sterling silver from an antique medal in the Rosa Mystica Collection so it shows all the beauty and history of the original piece.
